A very fine and beautiful Tekke chirpy. If you are paying attention to this you probably know what it is, but here goes: Embroidered cloak, used to cover the bride’s head at a wedding. Sleeves are just decoration. Chirpys were extremely time-consuming to embroider, and were passed on from one generation to the next. They had different ground colours, green for the young unmarried woman, yellow for the middle-aged woman, and white for the older woman. Yellow and white chirpys are rare and attractive collectors’ items. I am not sure what is the more correct spelling, Chirpy or Chyrpy – probably both are wrong… This baby was with Mann who did a wonderful job. There was nothing seriously wrong with it, just some loose seams and that little band that hold the two “sleeves” together was fastened. It is rare to have one! I mean the band… it often goes missing.
Size: I forgot to measure it
