Well… this baby ensi has been cared for by the Solak family in Turkey. It is a late 19th C piece and it has special features. The “candelabras” on each side are different in number. Rug friend Shiv said this is by no means a flaw, not a mistake by the weaver but intentional. He is a very knowledgable man so there it is. What I find even more peculiar are the few knots of green upper right, sadly not clear in this picture. Good luck charm? I learned that my Indian embroidery, bought in Gujarat in a remote village(!) was by no means flawed! I was embarrased after pointing out a single area in orange – intentional, for good luck! Stupid tourist me, haha! The sweetest animal depiction on the opposite side. Both sides have various “charms” added making me think this is a genuine ensi, made to be used by a family as door to their yurt.
Size: I forgot to measure it
