A fold-out plate in Ulrich Schurmanns book on Caucasian rugs made me think Karabagh… it has a deep blue… pinkish hues… Several rug friends suggested Shirvan. I understand this is not a very remarkable rug to some. I still “get caught” in it… you have to be clever to balance the few colours of those stripes so well. It doesn’t tilt either way… It had no dating when I got it, but 19th C is suggested by rug friends.
