This is the rug that changed everything… I found this on an auction platform in 2010. I had no idea if the attribution was correct and I didn’t care. Collector friends told me it was a very rare rug, mainly due to the use of green. It is also less stiff than some of its cousins, I am sure you can tell. It’s great! Late 19th C or a little earlier was a bit disappointing back then – I thought it was around 1800..! It too has crossed oceans and is no surprise in the rug world, I guess. Avar I was taught, Kirgiz influence as you can tell. It has met with conservator and been given some help to better hold together and to be hung. Love it!
