Deer as the Sogdian people saw them! I do not have many truly ancient textiles, and when this showed up mislabeled I bought it. It is a very frail little remnant of ancient times… Sogdia or Sogdiana, 6th century BC to 11th century AD Wiki says. I have done my best to compare it to similar fragments and suggest an appr. date of this piece to around 700-800 AD. If you know or have an idea about it regarding age and original usage (part of a cloak..?) please share it with me. It is a twill type weave called samite..?
