Dear Rug and Textile Aficionados,
This new web site is a slow but fancy departure from my collector interest and consequently more or less a farewell. I can’t keep up with you at this point in life, and honestly never could. I think you will enjoy my rugs and the story that go with some of them. Don’t expect tech specs, I never thought that was of much importance (until I entered the world of turkoman collectors…)
So, there it is, a small but cheerful tribute to the wonderful art of rugs and textiles. Most items will in due time be for sale, not for much (or any) profit but rather for your pleasure of adding something sweet to your collection.
Yours truly,
Anneli Westlin, Sweden

Personal favourites

Ersari mat
Around 1850-1900.
Have you ever seen one like it? I paid a month salary for this… The wool is the softest and the colours… you know what I mean.

Shirvan prayer rug
1850-1900?
I thought Karabagh. My rug friends said Shirvan. What looks black is really a dark blue. I am still intrigued by the way the weaver created balance! Can you guess why I picked this one as a favourite?

Joynamoz fragment (possibly Shakhrisyabz?)
Suggest around 1850.
To my collector friend: ”First I see the back and it is knocking me out. Wow! Dare I look on the front..? So delicate… and it smells old but in a nice way.”

Swedish rölakan wedding cover (täcke in Swedish)
Around 1800-1850.
Recently a similar sold and was believed to be from Balsby, Östra Göinge härad. It is not perfect you say, misaligned and sloppy looking..? I love it just for that. Somebody did their best, okay?!

Anneli Westlin – My Collector Story
It all started with a machine made garden design rug! Now I wish I had kept it.
I was lucky to get to know Sonny Berntsson early. First he talked at my small rug exhibition in the countryside… The art gallery was packed! This was in 2011 and at that point my modus was ”nothing can stop me now!”
